The Right Hair-cut

Above all, fine hair needs the right cut. If you have shoulder-length hair, you can try long layers – they provide a lift and give the illusion of fullness the hair wouldn’t have if it was longer and all one length. If you’d prefer an even shorter style, ensure you keep the hair long enough to create volume and softness. It’s worth paying a tad extra for a great cut, and regularly visiting your stylist for upkeep.

How to Blow-Dry Your Hair

When you blow-dry your hair, tip your head upside down and aim for the roots from underneath, with your hair dryer on medium heat. Do this until your hair is just slightly damp, then add a styling product and finish drying. A common mistake is to finish blow-drying too soon. If you do and there’s still moisture in your hair, it will go flat very quickly. Give it a quick blast with the dryer on the cool setting to eliminate any dampness.

How To Wash Hair

When it comes to washing your locks, always use products specifically formulated for fine hair. It’s also important you don’t over-wash as this will cause flyways  so don’t wash your hair every day.Avoid using smoothing products that contain silicone and polymers, as they’ll actually weigh fine hair down. Use a clarifying shampoo every few weeks to remove residue and maintain results. Make sure when you use up you're shampoo and conditioner to get a different one because using the same shampoo and conditioner all the time will make you're hair immune to the shampoo and conditioner.

If you can’t make it, fake it!

There are a few stylists’ tricks you can use to instantly improve the visual thickness of your hair. You can buy products, such as Toppik Hair Building Fibers, which are shaken or sprayed onto the hair to immediately give a fuller appearance. These fibres come in a range of shades to suit most hair colours. Another way to achieve instant volume is with clip-in hair extensions. There are options available for every hair type, colour and length, and they can also be styled to suit.

Maximum Oomph

The softer your hair, the more help you need from styling products to give it fullness. For maximum oomph, apply a volumising spray, cream or mousse to your roots while the hair is slightly damp. Use a round brush to finish blow-drying and lift the hair off the scalp. Be wary of waxes, gels and glosses as they can contain greasy substances that make your hair stringy.

Instead of spending money on cuticle cream, you can use extra-moisturizing and hydrating eye cream to cure dry cuticles.

If you've just had your hair dyed, the last thing you want is for the colour to fade. One surefire way to prevent such a mishap from happening? Use a deep-conditioning treatment once a month. This will help lock in colour and has the added benefit of staving off dry and damaged locks.


Giving yourself a natural glow avec blush is an in look for spring. Always start your blush line two finger widths away from your nose and only apply it on the apples of your cheeks. This will ensure you create a natural glow without going overboard.

Never brush curls out with a brush. Instead, loosen them with your fingers. This will give curls added lift without flattening them down.

To make your cheekbones appear higher and to give them more structure, apply bronzer directly under the cheekbone. You can also add highlighter to the cheekbone itself (under a thin layer of blush).

Before you start blow drying your hair, add a volumizing spray to your roots. This will give your locks some added lift.

•  2 tablespoons of honey

•  1 tablespoon of lemon juice

•  1 tablespoon of olive oil

•  1 ½ tablespoons of sugar
